History
2008
After being approached by a major international company who specialize in mixed commercial and residential developments, to provide Tower or Wall Mounted cycle racks in any mixed car / cycle parking environment, commercial and residential the NEW BullRack Bike Cradle was designed to fulfil the design requirement.
The BullRack is now in full production, and as with all TUSK products available from stock to everybody.
The huge increase in demand for the Hook’n’Hang over the last 12 months especially has also seen a large increase in the production rate to keep it a stock item.
2007
In March relocated to new office and workshops in Kent so guaranteeing the continuation of dedicated design, manufacture and supply of all the TUSK cycle storage products to individuals, construction companies etc.
2006
As a result of further developing the TUSK Modular (Home series) Bike Parking kits, the fully secure and versatile Maxi and Maxi-Combi range of bike parking kits, incorporating Home Office approved Armour Ring Security fastener protection throughout, were launched. Catering for the larger user they provide secure parking for any combination from 3 to 40 bikes. The kits can also be used for secure home bike parking.
2005
The Hook’n’Hang Bike racking system was introduced in April as a result of continuous enquiries for vertical compact storage of cycles not only from the residential sector but companies requiring to provide an environmental solution to cost effective, virtually indestructible secure parking for employees and ECON new build home solutions.
2004
The go-ahead was given in August to Netflare to develop and produce a completely new fully e-commerce website as tuskstore.com to reflect the ever increasing range of the TUSK Cycle storage and racking products produced by the company. The new site was eventually launched in the October.
2003
The overhead Multi-Hanger storage range plus the Wall Hitch were introduced to compliment the TUSK range so providing additional storage solutions.
2002
The TUSK Modular (Home series) Bike Park kits were launched at the York Festival of Cycling in June to fulfil a much needed requirement for floor level, wheel in bike parking primarily for home use.
2002 also saw the further development of the EXCEL and EXCEL Parking security anchors in conjunction with Cambridgeshire Police providing secure cycle parking for Cambridge residents, companies etc to helping to greatly reduce cycle theft crime around the city.
2001
The Excel Security Anchor, a development from the Gamekeeper II security anchor to provide a heavy duty, indestructible wall anchorage for D-Locks, and padlocks for cycle security was introduced at the York Festival of Cycling.
2000
The Gamekeeper II Security wall anchor was introduced providing secondary security for locking your cycle to a wall. The Mammoth wall mounted cycle rack, a development of the R200R, was also launched to complete the versatility of the wall racks.
1998
The first of the TUSK wall mounted Cycle storage racks, the R200R was introduced as a direct result of a request by a large RAF base requiring cost effective cycle storage around the RAF station. The TUSK trade mark was born.
1997
The first of the cycle maintenance workstands was launched at the York festival of cycling. The first Shelford Design Ltd website with its on-line shop was created.
1995
The Rollerturbo foldaway, developed over several years after the initial prototype design / concept of this unique cycle training unit way back in the mid 80’s was finally launched. UK and European patented it was over the next few years sold through-out the UK and to cyclists in over 34 countries.
1992
The move from Great Shelford to new premises in Over, Cambridgeshire was all part of the process in setting up a manufacturing facility to produce the Rollerturbo and to facilitate the design of additional products.
1984 – 1991
The company was set up by John Morley in 1984 who with a previous 28 years of aeronautical design engineering experience already behind him (10 of these working on contract overseas at IAI) commenced operation solely as an Engineering Design / Draughting services to other companies while also pursuing the design and development of the Rollerturbo foldaway cycle training unit.
